The third of May, 1808 all started due to Napoleon Bonapartes forces who had crossed the Pyrenees into the allied Spain under the pretext of trying to invade Spain and take over. The infamous French emperor decided to overtake and control the regions of Spain and its people. The King by the name of Charles IV had attempted to flee to South America but by the time he could do that he was forced by an extremely angry citizens of Spain. The King Napoleon sensed an opportunity to take over, so his great plan was to invite Charles and Ferdinand to France. During the time the leaders of Spain would be executed, so they decided to rise up against the Napoleon troops. This is what led to the famous The third of May, 1808 painting. The Peninsular War (1807â€Å"1814) was a military conflict between Napoleonic France and the allied powers of Spain, Portugal, ect for control of the Iberian Peninsula during the Napoleonic Wars. The war started when the French and Spanish armies invaded and occupied Portugal in 1807, and escalated in 1808 when France turned on Spain, it is only ally at the time. The war on the peninsula would last until the sixth Coalition had defeated Napoleon in 1814. This would be regarded as one of the first wars of national liberation, significant because of the emergence of guerrilla warfare. The Peninsular War, would also begin to overlap with what the Spanish-speaking world calls the (Spanish War of Independence), which began on the May 2,1808 and ended on April 17, 1814. The French occupation destroyed the Spanish administration, which fragmented into quarrelling segment of the Spanish government. In 1810, a reconstituted national government, the C?- diz Cortes. The British and Portuguese armies would eventually take control of Portugal. With this new found position the British and Portuguese would use this as a point of location to campaigns against the French army. Through the devastating years of fighting in Spain was a complete heavy burden on Frances Grande Armee. While the French were victorious in battle, their communications and supplies were severely tested and their units were frequently isolated, harassed or overwhelmed by partisans fighting an intense guerrilla war of raids and different types of ambushes. The Spanish armies were repeatedly beaten and driven to the peripheries, but they would regroup and relentlessly hound the French. The appointment and arrival of Joseph, is what started the Spanish revolt against the Napoleon and set the Peninsular War into action. It is said that the main reason of the Spanish revolt was, a reaction against new institutions and ideas. This was movement to show loyalty to the old order hereditary to crown of the Catholic kings. Which Napoleon was not, as an excommunicated enemy of the Pope? Napoleon had given control of Spain to a Frenchmen; who had the Catholic Church persecuted as begin a republican, who had desecrated churches, murdered priests, and enforced a loi des cultes (a new law of religion) and promoted a centralized government. Joseph had temporarily withdrawn much of the French Army to northern Spain, because he had grown comfortable with his current station as the King of Naples. Knowing that he was not in good standing with the Spanish people, Joseph proposed his abdication from the Spanish throne. Hopeful that Napoleon would sanction his return to the Naples. Napoleon dismissed Joseph s reservations, and the Emperor preceded to send in heavy French reinforcements, to assist Joseph in maintaining his position as King of Spain. Despite the easy recapture of Madrid, and the minimal control that Joseph s government over many cities and provinces, Joseph s reign over Spain was always questionable at best. Because it was constantly under resistance from the pro-Bourbon guerrillas. Joseph and his supporters would never established complete control over the country. Wellington came from a noble background, but he would work his way through the ranks just like Napoleon. Wellington was not accepted as British general and if he had die at the Battle of Talavera in 1809, when arch enemy Napoleon was at the height of his military career, which is then little would be known of the man, who would start the downfall of the Napoleonic Empire of France. His near death experience at Talavera, his ability as a commander would not be known until 1812 and his victory over in Spain in 1813. In 1812, when Napoleon set out with a massive army on what proved to be a disastrous campaign to conquer Russia, a combined allied army under Wellesley pushed into Spain defeating the French at Salamanca and taking Madrid. The British Army under the command of Arthur Wellington, Duke of Wellington, would guard Portugal and campaigned against the French in Spain alongside the reformed Portuguese army. The Portuguese army was under the command of General William Carr Beresford, who had been appointed commander-in-chief of the Portuguese forces by the exiled Portuguese royal family, and fought as part of a combined Anglo-Portuguese army under Wellesley. This combined army would come up against the French Army lead by Joseph Bonaparte and Marshal Jean â€Å"Baptiste Jordan. Although the British and the Spain had been rival throughout the colonial times, they would put aside their hatred for each other and join forces defeating Napoleon and the French Empire that he had obtained thus far. Although the Anglo-Spanish alliance could afford them the best chance at winning this battle against Napoleon there was not much trust amongst Wellington and the Spanish generals at all. The Spanish were engaging in what was the beginning of Guerilla warfare, Wellington found it hard to lead the troops at times. The Spanish were often described as vicious bandits, who would disguise themselves and attack their enemy without a second thought. Whereas the Spanish say the British Army as a group of drunken hooligans who were out for their own ambitions. These differences Wellington would found it difficult at times to assist the Spanish in this quest to defeat Napoleon. The Battle of Vitoria took place on June 21, 1813 with the British, Portuguese and Spanish armies coming together under the leadership of Duke Wellington. Wellington would not meet Napoleon in battle, but he would in fact face Napoleons brother Joseph Bonaparte and Marshal Jean-Baptiste near Vitoria in Spain. The reason why Napoleon was not at the battle of Spain was because, he decided to withdraw a majority of his forces so he could rebuild and prepare for his invasion of Russia. The battlefield for the battle would be located on the Zadorra River, which runs east to west. Victoria is located on the east of the Zadora River, with five roads that lead into Vitoria. The armies could enter from the North from Bilbao, from the Northeast from Salinas and Bayonne, East from Salvatierra, South from Logrono, and West from Burgos on the South side of the Zadorra River. Gazan and his division would be guarding the narrow western end of the Zadorra valley which placed them south of the river. DElron would also be stationed on the south side of the river and his failure to destroy three bridges along the rivers bend. This would leave one the weakest French division to guard them from the British army. The day leading up to the Battle of Vitoria, Jourdan would fall ill and the French would not have the leadership it would need to face Wellington in battle. The troops would leave a convoy of artillery in the streets of Vitoria, because they would not have enough animals to the wagons or the cannons that they had gained control of in a siege attack. The now out of control French army would meet Duke Wellington, who was moving his troops in the north side of the Zadorra. The French would come into battle with 60,000 troops, which would put them up against a strong British army of 82,000 troops. The French Army had 49,000 infantry, 11,000 cavalry and 151 guns going into this battle. While the British had more men and few guns with 96 guns they would give the French all they had. On June 21, Wellington would launch is final attack on Joseph and the French Army near Vitoria. He would lead a group of soldiers on the attack with around 57,000 British troops, 16,000 Portuguese and 8,000 Spanish toward Vitoria. They would come in on the French with four columns. Wellington would outflank Jourdans company on the Northern side near the Esla River. This would leave them stuck between the Douro and the Tagus. This would cause the French army to retreat into Burgos, causing Wellington to march hard to cut them off from returning to France. Wellington would be in command of the central forces and their strategic action in cutting Joseph and his army off the main road leading them back into France, while Thomas Graham would lead the bulk of the army to the right flank of the Zadorra River. Things were not going so well elsewhere for Wellington. General Grahams attack on the French right flank at the crossing of the Zadorra River north of Vitoria, which had run into deter mined opposition at the village of Gamara Mayor. Wellington was becoming concerned, by noon his center columns under Picton and Dalhousie had not yet arrived. When they finally arrived Picton impatient for orders led his division to take the bridge of Mendoza. The French had by the afternoon been driven from the heights and were being squeezed into the area around Vitoria as the allies drove at them from the center and left flanks. The French were now under threat from both flanks and the center with an artillery duel between 75 allied guns and 76 French guns being the biggest artillery battle of the war and the largest amount of artillery Wellington would have command of until Waterloo. Wellington was preparing for the final stroke. Outflanked and under pressure the French finally broke. Only the failure by the allies to take the Mayor prevented the French being cut off completely and destroyed. This major accomplishment by Wellington and his army had the French scrambling and question what to do. The French generals did not trust the leadership of Joseph and they would not make decision with first getting word from Napoleon. This would give Wellington the upper hand and after a hard fight Thomas would break through the centerline of the French army and soon cause a breakdown of the French Army. The major set that the French was meeting with when Gazan and DErlon not cooperating at the Zuazo ridge cause the morale of the soldiers to collapse and caused them to flee the battleground. The artillery men would leave behind their guns as they fled the fields on their horses. This rushing of the men leaving the battlefield would cause congestion on the roads with large number of wagons and carriages trying to head back to France. The efforts of Reilles divisions was definitely holding off the Graham and his troops that was allowed for more than ten thousand men to escape via the S alvatierra Road to head home to France. Without Goya, we would have not gotten a well painted picture of such a historic time. Goya showed true meaning of what he painted and for that we all got a sense of what it could have been like during this time because of all the heartfelt faces and the little details that was displayed in the painting. This is why they have named Goya as one of the greatest painters of the eighteenth and nineteenth century.

Some of the characteristics of an outstanding leader entail a visionary leader who has the understanding of the people and the task to be able to shape the image of the organization. For example, the exemplary leader Christopher Columbus, who is a strong leader someone who has thick skin to stand and accept any criticism about his plans and still stay focused? Strong opinioned and hardly compromises their work or lose focus from their goal due to mishaps. Exceptional leaders are not born, but they are made. An individual with passion and a strong sense of command makes the best leader. The key role that leadership plays in this phase is balancing the time to f ocus on change, pain and move to the future (Daft Lane, 2011, p. 63). Arrival period is the phase after the change, has taken place characterized by less emotion, more stability and workers ready to forge a new direction with a fresh mandate. Therefore, more responsibility is dumped on leadership to effect new ways that work to the organization’s advantage. Additionally, the leaders make a better future for the employees by offering long lasting solutions that improve their lives at work. The ultimate role of leadership in this period is completing the change by convincing employees accept the current situation and understand their new roles in the changed organization. For example, this was evident in Martin Luther King’s role as a leader (Phillip’s,2000,p.31) because he constantly inspired and motivated his people through his fluent speaking style and gave them a compelled vision on life. It has charismatic influence in politics especially for people who apply this approach. It gives them the poise and confidence to be able to address and convince an audience in supporting their political stand. As in the 1970’s case when James McGregor Burns developed it to guide all the leaders in politics, (Burns, 1979, p.15) Leadership made the political leaders energetic, dynamic and gave them a strong sense of command. Whenever good leadership exists in an organization, employees and other members of staff get individualized attention basing on their varied grievances. Leaders using transformational leadership style attend and constantly monitor the well-being of employees through team building and motivational activities. This ensures meeting of individual needs leading to employee satisfaction hence increased productivity. Additionally, leadership approach dictates the foundation and direction of solving problems in instances of clashes on behavioral standards or values. Leadership plays a significant role in this by laying down strategies that act as a guide in solving the clashes conflict. An example of this benefit existed in U.S. through Martin Luther King’s leadership he successfully appealed fair play by advocating for the outlaw on buses’ segregation (Wise Kowalski, 2010, p. 37). This approach strengthens employees’ position in an organization through team spirit. Involving the employees in decision-making in the same way leaders do in the democratic style of leadership ensures efficiency of leadership and satisfaction on the part of the employee. Hence, increased input resulted because they feel as part of the organization. Reduced gap in communication through leadership: for example, application of the democratic style of leadership clears tension in any work environment. This is achievable only through giving employees the freedom of speech and contribution into the organizational decision-making process. Obamas rule is more effective than for any leader in the past; his democratic leadership style ensures the hearing of common citizens and their needs met (Laszlo Laugel, 2000, p. 5 2). Leadership approach creates a positive environment for working in several organizations. It encourages fair distribution of challenges and responsibility among the junior workers as witnessed in a school setting. When the vibe is right among workers in a company work, becomes more fun. Any learning and working environment utilizing the use of leadership approach inspires creativity during problem solving and task performance. Leadership with this motive ensures that all ideas as different as they may be included in one box for reaping of greater benefits to an organization. Hence when that happens creativity resulted from the complexity of the final idea reached. For example in Skype leadership focused more on results and not efforts as highlighted by Terry Brock in an interview about their leadership styles. He asserted that Skype’s leadership motivated employees through team play to get the job done; additionally they cultivated and supported creativity (Tangri, 2010) b y awarding their employees. Increased safety at work enforced through the leadership style in use. Safety and health rules enforced by certain leaders in the bureaucratic leadership style ensure maintenance of health and save lives thus increased safety at work. The people who benefit more from this leadership approach are the construction workers and the medical staff in hospitals. In addition to the discussed benefits, exemplary leadership increases the quality of work in an organization. It is common sense that supervision is crucial in any work environment for the achievement of excellent result. Hence leadership plays that role in supervision, and as a result, only the best piece of work achieved; high quality. Influential parastatals and successful companies like the Microsoft company headed by Gates benefited from his visionary leadership(Prince, 2005, p.20) where by he led by taking part in reforming the products to meet the customer demands hence the quality of Microsoft pr oduct increased tremendously. Leadership approach encourages the division of labor where by the managers, junior workers team up, and work together for the same course in a company. In participative leadership applied mostly at construction sites, division of labor is common. It allows the efficient utilization of skills and talents in a certain job hence resulting into increased input that is profitable for the company (Burns, 1979, p. 25). Limitations of the leadership approach Leadership limits the social appeal and autonomy in an organization. The pushy and dictatorial leadership applied by some leaders kills the whole essence of interactive cohesiveness at work because the employees had worked in fear and close supervision by their respective leaders. Employees become afraid to communicate to each other or interact with their supervisors because of tension and distrust they have. For example of leadership in prison and army camps, they viewed the juniors as robots to follow ord ers from the superiors (Wise Kowalski, 2010, p.40). Secondly, there prolonged decision-making has been observed in many cases applying this approach; the process depends entirely on the leadership style used by a leader. A longer decision-making process means a democratic or situation leadership style while autocratic style of leadership has the shortest process of making decisions. The top leaders word is always the final decision as to a family where the parent makes the decision most of the time for the young kids. Decisions are long drawn in the case of democratic leadership. As for the example of leadership under Muammar Gaddafi’s rule; he dictated every thing and anyone opposed to his rule got killed or imprisoned (Ezro Frantz, 2011, p.22). He started ruling Libya when at 27years and stuck in power where he set the committees of how people lived and even ruled the media; depriving the people their humanity freedom. An additional negative impact of leadership approach occurs in instances of obsession in the power of a position by some leaders. The power and authority that enforced by certain working environments makes the leaders self absorbed in power and greediness of a certain position that they forget the critical aspects of their leadership. This not only kills the team spirit but the organizational overall productivity. An example of such a limitation is evident in politics in most countries, where the leaders fight for power and forget all about the people, the sole reason why they are in power (Lencioni, 2002 p. 40). Furthermore, personal grow th sometimes stagnated with the wrong leadership or obsessive leadership. Some leaders obsess on leading others, and they bar any chances the employees would have in expressing their creativity and growing professionally. This example was experienced by many immediate subordinates to CEO’s of most organization they want to remain in power in power. Lastly, misappropriation of funds is almost top on the list in limitations of leadership approach. Most leaders use their power and positions in their respective organizations to embezzle and misuse funds. Additionally, they hide the accounting blanks under so many less weighty projects. For example, this is a common occurrence when it comes to college and students’ trust funds like in the Philippines, college trust funds have really been misused in the past, through bad leadership hence, you will notice the dwindling level of education in some parts of the country (Posner and Kouzes 2009 p. 52). In conclusion, leadership is not just the responsibility of leading others but, as an employee, it entails dealing with the situations that are present and making professional sound decision that favor the group, the organization and the objective tasks to be accomplished. In time of change, a leader should show support for the situation and play his role in implementing leadership skills that would give direction of the organizational future after the change. There is, thus, a need to understand management’s processes and assumptions for coming up with these estimates, how they affect the individual balances and what will happen to the balances if the actual costs are not consistent with the estimates. When auditing the related expenses (such as materials and labour), the significant assertions that should be included in the audit plan are completeness, accuracy and cut – off. Since the risk of misstatement and the audit risk for these balances are higher, the materiality level should be set at the lower range (i.e., 1% - 2% of pre – tax income) and the preliminary materiality level should be set accordingly and documented through the audit planning documents. Page 43 of the 2011 Annual Report disclosed that â€Å"approximately 170,000 hours of Engineering and 60,000 hours of Drafting will be applied to the project at a fully burdened labour rate†. With this, the labour account will be classified as a signi ficant account for audit purposes, with a high risk of misstatement. The audit plan should include assessing and testing internal controls that are related to labour costing (regular and overtime costs), inputting of man – hours, calculating payroll costs and summarizing the total cost for the period. The call for unification of the proletariat and abolishment of the Bourgeoisie was an urgent one during a time of rapid progress in all aspects of industrial life. This urgency of The Communist Manifesto and the desire for change of political ideologies (to match the exponential rate of progress of wealth and industry) created not only a spate of revolutions, but a long lasting change in political ideas for industrialized European nations. The Communist Manifesto created a sense of unity and class awareness throughout the proletariat, thus they were able to recognize their power politically, socially and economically. Naturally, with the sudden rise of industry (particularly in England) other sectors of the European economy were affected. Cottage industries were put out of business by competition from manufactured goods and agricultural workers migrated to the cities. Not only did the farming economy change drastically, but the urban setting where migrants came for employment expanded rapidly. These changes in labor practices and the economic landscape as a whole were most unsettling and unfair for the industrial workers of the 184 0's. Conditions were often poor and a very distinct line was drawn between rich and poor, factor owner and factory laborer. Gender Discrimination Essay

Laws on woman’s rights have changed a lot since the 1900’s. Women weren’t allowed to vote, get an education, and have high authority in jobs. Now, women are allowed to do all of these things and more. But have things really changed, or are they just more hidden? There are three ways in which women are discriminated against: in the workplace, television, and in politics. According to Napoleon Bonaparte â€Å"Nature intended women to be our slaves they are our property. Woman are nothing but machines for bearing children. Even though Napoleon is dead, and has been for a while now, this way of viewing women is very much alive. Why is it that woman are paid less than men for doing the same jobs? For example, a male professional basketball player gets paid way more than a woman. A 2008 study of 63 countries shows that a woman in the same job as a man with the same responsibilities is paid 10% to 15. 6% less then the man. Television plays a big part on the way that our country views woman. For example, in a commercial for pizza bites you see a women coming home from the grocery store with pizza bites, and making them for her children. Why is it that a man is never shown in the kitchen cooking for his children? Another example is on the show George Lopez. George manages an airplane parts factory, while his wife is a stay at home mom. The only thing you ever see her doing in this show is cooking, taking care of her kid, or arguing with her mother-in-law. In conclusion, women are stereotyped when cast for television roles. Television only shows woman, cleaning cooking, or taking care of their children. When it come to politics people can be very unwilling to change. For example we have never had a woman vice president or president. Each time we have a women run for president, I become more aware of gender discrimination in this country. Men will not vote for a woman candidate simply because she’s a woman. I had once seen a shirt stating: â€Å"No women will ever be president because: 1. No woman is a man. 2. See rule 1†. There has never been a women president because men in politics who vote are so unwilling to make a decision without discriminating against woman. Until America changes as a whole discrimination against woman will continue. Even though we women would like to believe otherwise they are still discriminated against: in the workplace, television, and in politics. The only way for women to be truly equal in this country is for women to get the same salary as men in careers, television to stop stereotyping women, and for America as a whole to change the way they view women, and the way they teach their children about the roles of women in society. Until this happens, women will always be discriminated against.

CSI Neverland Play The entire CSI Neverland script is available for purchase and performance rights at Heuer Plays.The full-length play runs 90 minutes. Speaking roles are available for 14 performers, equally divided by gender. Zero to 10 performers of any gender can be used as extras. The action of the play takes place in a library, crime lab, native camp, the Never-ever Land police precinct, and locations in Never-ever Land. The humorous plot involves the murder of Peter Pantaloons shadow. Investigators are assigned and Fairy Forensics Officers Murk and Tinker arrive on the scene. They suspect librarian Brenda Brooks, who is no fan of Peter Pan, Harry Potter, or Dr. Suess. She is interrogated and meets the infamous Captain Sharp as they place her in a lineup. The CSI lab includes two Lab Rats, who suspect the crocodile may be involved with the disappearance of the shadow. This sends one investigator to the crocodiles family and introduces the Red Herring. The investigators enlist Captain Sharps girlfriend to find evidence against him. But it is Brenda Brooks who solves the mystery, and along the way, she finds love and a new appreciation for classic childrens literature. The play has been performed by a wide variety of high schools, including public, private, faith-based, and the USAF Air Force Academy High School. It may be a good choice for a humorous play that gives a mash-up of a classic childrens play with a modern-day television series that students and parents are likely to have watched.
